Welcome to the Community Inn

As your gateway to the Community First! Village, the Community Inn offers so much more than a room for the night. We invite our guests to be a part of our household: a homemaking revolution happening right here in Austin, Texas.

The Village is a master-planned community for the chronically homeless. Here, men and women coming up off the streets are able to rent affordable RVs and tiny homes, with access to organic gardens, outdoor kitchens, and beautiful common spaces for reflection and fellowship. Even more importantly, the folks at the CF! Village have the opportunity to form life-changing friendships with the many volunteers and neighbors who also call this place home.

We offer many opportunities to stay, serve, learn, and celebrate with us. We hope that groups, families, and individuals will come not only to spend the night, but to spend time serving and learning alongside our Community First! residents. Explore the website or contact the Innkeepers directly to learn more about volunteer service and learning opportunities available during your stay.

Every visit to the Community Inn supports programs that provide income to our residents, from housekeeping and cooking to artisan micro-enterprises, such as blacksmithing and soap making. As a program of Mobile Loaves & Fishes, the Community Inn’s primary purpose is to empower communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless. In light of this mission, we hope that by joining us for a weekend or a night, you will do more than merely fund this good work. We hope that you will make yourself at home.

SERVE WITH

Friends & Neighbors

Thousands of volunteers serve annually with Mobile Loaves & Fishes and the Community First! Village. All Community Inn packages include opportunities to serve with us. You might spend a morning harvesting vegetables from our gardens, tending the olive orchard, making soap, carving a spoon in our Workshop, and much more. However you serve, you’ll be building meaningful relationships with Village residents and fellow guests. You’ll be serving goodness.

STUDY

Meaningful Skills & Ideas

Deepen your stay at the Community Inn with one of our retreat or symposium packages.  Whether you come to study woodworking with one of resident craftsmen, to participate in a contemplative prayer or social justice retreat, or to learn how to establish your own Community First! Village, you will find ways to put your head and heart, as well as your hands, to the work of goodness. Check out our Individual Packages for our current offerings, or, if you are reserving for a group, contact the Innkeepers about tailoring a package to your group’s needs.

‘Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.’

GENESIS 2:15 (NASB)

“Community First! is a little slice of heaven on earth. We came to serve and build community only to find ourselves transformed by the hospitality of those whose mission it is to tend this living garden.”
